Camp Dreamcatcher provides HIV/AIDS education and outreach to community groups, churches and schools. We visit sites to talk about camp and what we do, to answer questions and specifically in the schools to offer students a chance to hear the experience of a child or adolescent their age who is HIV positive, has a loved one living with HIV/AIDS or a family member who has died of HIV/AIDS. In 2007 & 2008, members of our Teen Speaker's Bureau shared their stories with over 3,000 students and community members. We are very excited to report that Robert Corna's films "Tiny Tears" will be shown at the United Nations on March 19th, 2008. Robert contacted us last summer and asked if he could stay with us during the camp session. He spent the summer in Africa, Thailand and Brazil filming the stories of children coping with HIV/AIDS and chose the children of Camp Dreamcatcher to represent the United States in the film. We are very proud to be part of this important project, which will include a one and a half film and a four part mini-series, one on each country Robert visited. We have invited one child and one caregiver from each country to our camp session in August and will have our own "red carpet" film premiere at our opening ceremony. Visit www.youtube.com/robertcornafilms to watch a short trailer of the film and we will keep you updated on when the film will be available at other venues.
