Big Changes at Camp Dreamcatcher Camp Dreamcatcher Executive Director, Patty Hillkirk, is thrilled to announce that Camp Dreamcatcher’s 15th summer camp session will be held at The Westtown School, August 15th – 21st, 2010. "The transition from camp to campus will take some getting used to, but I know that the campers will feel so special in the campus like setting that rivals many Ivy League colleges. The campers will love having air conditioned dorm rooms and will enjoy the 25 meter indoor heated swimming pool, the high ropes course with a zip line and the beautiful field house complex with tennis courts, basketball courts and track." states Patty Hillkirk. Amenities at the Westtown School also include three art studios, a ceramics room, a woodshop, a dark room, a recording/sound studio and a 564-seat theatre with computerized lighting system and professional sound system. Camp Dreamcatcher has also found a new home for its weekend teen retreats and will be holding their spring Teen Life Skills Retreat at the NorthBay Camp on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. The fall and winter is a busy time for Camp Dreamcatcher. Their Holiday Party was held at the Kennett Area YMCA on December 6th and served 120 HIV/AIDS infected and/or affected children and their families. "We’re delighted to be able to host this party every year. Camp Dreamcatcher does such wonderful things for these kids and we’re happy to open our facility to these families to celebrate the season", states Pat Nichols, Associate Executive Director at the Kennett Area YMCA. The Camp Dreamcatcher Adopt-a-Family program will serve 70 children, with individuals and businesses, like the Kennett Area YMCA, donating gifts for the holidays. "Unfortunately, the need for our services has increased and the financial crisis has added an additional challenge to families coping with HIV/AIDS, as many have lost their jobs, have experienced homelessness, have lost their health insurance and are facing the difficult choice of paying for food or their HIV medications. Our ability to face these challenges is directly related to the support we receive from the Kennett Area YMCA, individuals, foundations, businesses and the United Way of Southern Chester County", states Hillkirk.. If you are looking for a unique gift for someone special this holiday season, Camp Dreamcatcher is happy to announce that embroidered clothing items are now available for purchase on their website www.campdreamcatcher.org Click Here to download the Camp Dreamcatcher brochure (.pdf format)
